Filtration beds

BIRM is an efficient and economical filtration bed for reducing dissolved iron and manganese compounds from feeding water. It can be used both in gravity systems and pressure filters. BIRM acts as an insoluble catalyst that intensifies reaction between dissolved oxygen and iron compound. This filtration bed is characterized by high effectiveness in iron removal and long service life in a wide temperature scope.

GREENSAND is a manganese zeolite, an oxidizing and filtering agent, achieved as a result of processing of glauconite, a natural product better known as greensand. It effectively removes from water: iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide which have especially negative effect on water quality. Greensand is a universal product which combined with potassium permanganate, thanks to its catalytic features, can reduce iron and manganese content in water to extremely low level.

MTM, widely known as "synthetic greensand" is used for reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) from water. Thanks to its active surface coating, hard to remove and soluble iron and manganese compounds are oxidized to the form of easy to remove precipitates. Hydrogen sulphide is oxidized to a sulphur. The insoluble precipitates are filtered out in the bed and removed by backwashing.

PYROLOX is a mineral form of manganese dioxide that has been used in water treatment technology for over 75 years. Pyrolox is a granular filtration bed for reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide. It acts as catalyst, staying unchanged itself. Oxidized iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide are filtered out in the bed and removed by backwashing. It does not require chemical reaction. Pyrolox is characterized by a high capacity at a low concentration of contaminants. It can be used simultaneously with aeration, chlorination, ozonation and other methods of water pre-treatment. Chlorine and other oxidants advance catalytic reaction.

TURBIDEX consists of aluminium silicate granules (zeolite) of high porosity. It can be used for removal of sediment down to five microns. Compared with sand filter it removes down to three times more sediment between regenerations. Sediment is seized with the whole surface of granules, which allows for significant time prolongation between regenerations and considerable washing water economy.

MAGNO-DOL - alkaline filtering substance of dolomite origin and irregular shape of grains. Magno-dol is a reacting filtering material used in open and closed filtration systems. It is used for: deacidification and filtration of deep, surface and spring water; deacidification and filtration connected with iron and manganese removal; deacidification and filtration in cooling water circulation and heating circulation; deacidification and filtration of swimming-pool water; water demineralization and reverse osmosis.

DEFEMAN - a filtration bed that guarantees effective elimination of manganese and iron. DEFEMAN is especially recommended for treatment of water of significant manganese content. Thanks to strong oxidizing features, manganese and iron oxidation level increases and compounds hard to dissolve are filtered out in the bed. Regeneration of DEFEMAN filtration bed is performed through washing with aerated water, therefore usage of additional chemical substances is not required. When using DEFEMAN filtration bed, introduction of water aeration level to the system is needed.

CRYSTAL RIGHT is a zeolite filtration bed that removes simultaneously iron, manganese, hardness and ammonia from water, as well as raises water pH. It does not require aeration and its regeneration is carried out by means of brine which is safe for a customer. At the same time, unlike other water softening beds, CRYSTAL RIGHT is resistant to other strong oxidants. Thanks to this fact it can be disinfected by chlorine.

FM - filtration bed for reduction of iron and manganese is used for effective removal of iron and manganese compounds in one-stage filtration system. Keeping proper bed working conditions it is possible to treat water of extremely high iron and manganese content. Technology of reducing iron and manganese compounds requires aeration (physical or chemical) of raw water, alternatively - correction of water reaction and filtration in the bed. FM filtration bed needs periodic countercurrent regeneration.

ACTIVATED CARBON - granular activated carbon is an excellent filtration medium of extremely high porosity. The structure of its pores enables the process of adsorption in relation to many substances dissolved in water. One of many applications of activated carbon is removal of undesirable taste and smell caused by water chlorination. Granular activated carbon requires periodic backwashing that purifies the bed of agglomerated contaminants.

ION-EXCHANGE RESIN - gel-type cation exchanger, strongly acid, polystyrene sulphonate type used for softening of drinking water that has contact with food. During the flow of water through ion-exchange resin, calcium and magnesium ions responsible for water hardness are exchanged for sodium ions. When bed ion-exchange ability is run-down, the bed is exposed to regeneration process through the saline solution.
